Collaborate with a community of hundreds of smart builders to build projects that actually get done. No team forming, no all-nighters, no endless solo grinding. Contribute when you want and let the crowd carry you.
Imagine an open crowd working together to guide a single AI coding agent. Participants can propose and improve each other's prompts. We continually score them on accuracy, reliability, and complexity. Every 8 hours, the highest-rated prompt is fed to the AI agent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Hackly is an online community of 400+ people working together to launch useful open source projects. Instead of small teams grinding in isolation, we co-create one project by proposing and refining prompts. Every eight hours, the top-rated prompt is fed to the AI, and the project evolves in real time.
We want to use simple rules, automated scoring, and transparent systems to keep the whole collaborative process structured and fair.
We're running a pilot to see how this kind of collaboration feels and how we can improve it. Once we hit 50 project proposals, the 8-hour cycles begin. You can propose an idea here, or join our Discord to connect with the community and follow the project's progress.
Anyone interested in development can join! The main goal of this challenge is to involve a more diverse range of people in building coding projects. Since the prompt should reflect the collective input of many users, we believe that the more diverse the group, the better the outcome. And yes, Hackly is completely free.
Prompts are evaluated on three metrics: Accuracy (0–10) for clarity, scope, specificity, and context; Reliability (0–10) for iteration, testability, and performance; and Complexity (0–10) for depth, novelty, and integration.
If we manage to find a sponsor, we would like to give financial rewards following the top users on the leaderboard. For pilot projects, there are no financial rewards.
Participants can earn points by submitting new prompts and improving existing ones. Note that you earn more points by working on prompts that have been refined multiple times - the deeper the improvement chain, the bigger the bonus, because you're building on valuable work that others have already contributed to.
Our Discord community is active, welcoming, and happy to help.
